Surely, the First year Anatomy Practicals
First year of MBBS is a roller-coaster ride. Apart from the "fun college life" you get to enjoy, you also give your first Anatomy Viva. Now before we begin with our story of dumbness lets get some facts clear:
This is how human lungs looks :
And this how a human liver looks :
So it was our first Anatomy Viva and like a very diligent student I prepared the entire syllabus a night before the exam🙃 . Went through all the bones for osteology, the histology slides, embryology as well as the viscera and showed up the next day with puffy eyes .
The Examiner first asked me about the basic stuff, some features of the bones and everything is going smoothly. Then the examiner asks to pick up the Right Lung. I scan through all the viscera present in front of me and with the full confidence pick up the LIVER😅.
Examiner: Are you sure this is the right lung
Me: Yes sir
Examiner: How many lungs do we have in our body
Me: sir two lungs, left and right
Examiner: How many liver do we have
Me: Sir one liver only
Examiner: What do you have in your hands
Me: Sir this the right lung
Examiner: Explain its features
I then describe all the features of the right human lung on a human liver and that too with confidence. The examiner then asks me to leave as my viva was over. The moment I leave the dissection hall, realization hits me of the blunder I did and the fool I made of myself. But there was no going back, the crime had been committed.
So yeah, this was dumbest moment of my first year of MBBS and the lesson I learnt was to try and not make a fool of yourself in front the examiner.
