MBBS is considered one of the toughest courses in India. And the toughest part of MBBS is the VIVA. Viva can be comedy show at times. One of my experiences of Anatomy viva is worth telling here.
So it was the term Anatomy Viva. The internal examiner asked me to pick up the human heart in the anatomical position. I looked at the heart for about 5 minutes and held it in anatomical position (according to me).
Examiner: Is this the correct way?
Me: Sorry ma’am.
I then correct it and hold it in an even wrong position.
Examiner: What are you, rotate it.
Me: Sorry ma’am.
I again modify the orientation of the heart in the hope that this is the corrext way.
Examiner: Have you ever held a heart in your hand before?
Me: Sorry ma’am.
The examiner then takes the matter in her own hands. She explains the anatomical position to me in very calm manner.
Examiner: Now take this and hold it in the correct way.
I take the heart and do exactly what she told me to do.
Examiner: Beta, have you ever seen a heart before?
Me: Sorry ma’am.
Examiner: Go and next time study before the viva>
Me: Sorry ma’am.
So this was one such hilarious experience of my first year Anatomy viva. All I said during the viva was “Sorry ma’am” and then left.
